Our collections are constantly revitalised through new acquisitions. His iconic work featuring Marilyn Monroe became a testament to both the Art Newsist’s and society’s obsession with fame. After her death from an overdose of sleeping pills, in 1962 the world became ever more obsessed with her fragile legend. Warhol’s likenesses of her, borrowed from a publicity still from her movie Niagara, helped feed that obsession by perpetuating her image within celebrity popular culture.

The Diagnostic Drawing Series, for example, is used to determine the personality and emotional functioning of a patient. The end product is not the principal goal in this case, but rather a process of healing, through creative acts, is sought. The resultant piece of artwork may also offer insight into the troubles experienced by the subject and may suggest suitable approaches to be used in more conventional forms of psychiatric therapy. Stories
Each time a new artwork is added to any culture, the meaning of what it is to exist is inherently changed. Nevertheless, a classical realist tradition persisted in small Byzantine works, and realism steadily grew in the art of Catholic Europe. We want to improve our support for individual creative and cultural practitioners, especially at the start of their career, so we can safeguard the future of our industry. We’re looking for organisations, artists, events, initiatives and others to apply for our funding and help us achieve our strategy, Let’s Create.

Full of colourful scenes and fantastical animals, these highly decorative Soho tapestries captured how Europeans imagined the ‘Far East’ in the early 18th century. They were removed eight years ago for safekeeping when a succession of storms caused damage to the former Tudor powerhouse. On inspection their fragile state was revealed, from degrading yarns to warped backings that were putting strain on the fabric. After several years of conservation the tapestries are back on display at The Vyne in Hampshire. Join us on for an anime screening presented by the AGA and our community partner ASAPA .
